Library E-Resources
Students & Staff
  • ID Number: Student/Staff ID number
  • Key in a PIN: Library PIN - used to borrow books (4-8 digits)

Use this login to access any of the following Library resources and services:

  • Databases
  • E-Books
  • E-Journals
  • E-Reserve (Lecture Notes / Course Notes)
  • Online Videos
  • Past Exams Papers
  • 'my library'
  • Holds
  • Renewals
  • If you have never borrowed before, your default PIN is your date-of-birth in ddmmyyyy format.
  • If you can't remember your PIN:
  • For any other queries related to using Library e-resources contact your Campus Library or send a query via InfoQuest.
Document Delivery (LIDDAS)
Students
  • User ID: Student ID number
  • Password: date-of-birth in ddmmyyyy format
Staff
  • User ID: Staff ID number
  • Password: SURNAME (in capitals)
PC Access - Active Directory (AD) Login
Students
  • Username: Student ID number preceded by an s (for example: s3234567)
  • Initial Password: Temp<date-of-birth in ddmmyyyy format> (for example: Temp12031976)
  • Log on to: AD
  • To change your password, press Ctrl-Alt + Delete on the keyboard and click on the "Change Password" button.
  • The new password must be formatted as follows:
    • contain at least 8 characters or greater
    • contain at least 1 uppercase letter
    • contain at least 1 lowercase letter
    • contain at least 1 numeral
    • or a non-alphabetic character (such as !,$,#,%)
    • please note that the password is case-sensitive

Please Note

  • If you update your Active Directory (AD) password, this will automatically become your default VU Email password
  • There is now a PC Booking system in place at most campus libraries, all PCs are now time-restricted: 2 hours per user with the option to extend to 3 hours (where no pre-existing booking exists).
  • Express PCs do NOT require a Username/Password, but are time-restricted
  • If you don't have (or can't remember) your Active Directory (AD) login, then please contact ITS on 9919 2777 or email: servicedesk@vu.edu.au.  Alternatively, you can go to a Library service desk and have your AD login changed there (ID is required).
Staff
  • eStaff ID: e followed by Staff ID number (for example: e5001234)
  • Password: No standard format
Email
Students: http://mail.live.com/
  • Windows Live ID: firstname.familynamex@live.vu.edu.au - where x represents a number if there are multiple accounts with the same name (for example: john.smith3@live.vu.edu.au)
  • Password: Default password - date-of-birth in the format ddmmyyyy. If you have updated your AD Login password, this will automatically become your default VU Email password.

Please Note

  • If you update your VU (Live) Email password within the Live website, it WILL NOT change your Active Directory (AD) password

Students

  • Password: LDAP* password - date-of-birth in ddmmyyyy format
Please Note

* The LDAP login is the same as used previously to access student email pre-DEJAVU. If you don't have (or can't remember) your LDAP login, please contact ITS on 9919 2777 or servicedesk@vu.edu.au. Any change to the LDAP login in one system, will affect all related systems also using the LDAP login.

Staff
  • Username: firstname.lastname
  • Password: LDAP* password
Please Note

* For most staff, the LDAP username and password, is the login that they used to access their email pre-Outlook. If you don't have (or can't remember) your LDAP login, then please contact ITS on 9919 2777 or servicedesk@vu.edu.au.

Off-Campus Technical Specifications
The Library offers access to a range of resources and services off campus. In order to use these you will need access to a computer and software with the following specifications:

Library recommendation of minimum hardware & software:

*Some specific databases are designed for Internet Explorer.  We recommend the use of the latest version of any browser for use with databases.  Online videos require the setting of a security certificate only possible on the later versions of Internet Explorer and Mozilla.
