VU Library and Student Life (St Albans) are proud to bring to you the first ever Read Write Debate Fete as part of VU’s sponsorship of the Williamstown Literary Festival. It will feature:

More than 100 entries were received in the BONUS+ competition which ran from March 14 until April 4 and we thank all our entrants for their participation. We are pleased to announce the following winners along with their respective success stories and wish them ‘happy shopping’ with their $50 Bookshop Vouchers!

Robert Robert (City Flinders Campus)
I wanted to borrow "Principles of managerial Finance" by Gitman, unfortunately, in VU Library, all the books were gone. I ordered from Melbourne Uni Library.

Melissa Cameron (Footscray Park Campus)
I had "Waltzing Matilda" sent from Newcastle so I could share it (as a picture book) with some young students on my teaching placement.

Rachel Manolis (Melton Campus)
I was able to get a book I needed from Ballarat Uni as it was not available at VU

Christine Laviolette (St Albans Campus)
I needed a book for a subject unit and all 10 VU copies were taken out. There wasn't a copy available on reserve, therefore the librarian ordered a BONUS copy from the University of Melbourne. I picked it up 3 days later!

Marlene Cran (Werribee Campus)
I found a book from Melbourne Uni library using BONUS, enabled me to complete a section of a paper quickly without the inconvenience of city travel

Jasmine Purches (Footscray Park Campus)
The service is fantastic. My Bonus took less then two days and I received an email letting me know my book had come in. You can’t get more convenient then that!

I placed a hold on one of my politics text books that was at Deakin as all the ones at VU were taken

Jenny Redwood (Footscray Park Campus)
We saw the film "There will be blood" and wished to review the original inspiration - Sinclair Upton's "Oil" - delivered to FP [Footscray Park] from Deakin Uni in 2 days!

1. The Library Service Award recognises excellence in service to internal and external clients by Library staff.

  • The City Queen Law Library team
    (Frank Ponte, Kim Phu, Natalie Stephenson and Robyn McInerney)

 and

  • The Rover Implementation Group
    (Robin McCormack, Peter Ring, Brian Tyrrell & Tracy Dexter-Ingram)

2. The Library Outstanding Contribution Award recognises contributions to the quality of student learning support.

  • Mark Armstrong-Roper (Faculty Librarian) - for his leadership of the Liaison Team at Footscray Park

and

Dianne Tangey (Acquisitions Librarian) - for her unflappable and dedicated commitment to processing orders for library resources

3. The Library Quality Award recognises quality improvement and innovation demonstrated by Library Staff.

During this time the Library will be offering demonstrations and giveaways including the chance to win one of several Bookshop vouchers (valued at $50 each).

What is BONUS+? VU Library has partnered with 5 other university libraries to make our collections available for loan to all member staff and students. Resources can be selected online from the member libraries and delivered to the requestor's local campus library. It's similar to VU's intercampus holds but accesses more books.
