Online Indexes & Full-Text Databases

Victoria University Library subscribes to a number of online databases across a wide range of subject areas. Most databases can be accessed outside the University. Staff and students need to authenticate before access is allowed.

In addition, off campus access is also available to individual electronic journals. Some electronic journals require an individual password, which can be obtained by contacting the Information Desk of a Campus Library.

For help using electronic databases, try the following links:

Electronic Books

Online access is available to selected academic texts through the Library catalogue. Locate electronic books by doing a broad Advanced Keyword search, and limiting Material type to NETLIBRARY. E-books can be distinguished by the following icon in the catalogue record.

NetLibrary books can be "borrowed" for 24 hours. Access is limited to one person at a time. A user account must be created before an e-book can be checked out.

Instructions for using the netLibrary site are available from netLibrary.

Electronic Reserve

Off campus access is available to journal articles and lecture notes which have been placed on electronic reserve. Search the reserve collection from the Library Home Page by entering your lecturer's name, or the subject code of the course you are enrolled in. Subject codes are listed on the subject outline guides or reading lists.

Authentication is required to access electronic reserve items.

See here for information about the reserve collection and computer hardware and software requirements.
