Alternative Request Methods
How to Send a Document Request via E-Mail
Before making a Document Request check the Victoria University Library catalogue
  1. Open the form (MS Word doc)
  2. Fill-in the details on-line - to insert text: use your mouse to click on the shaded sections or use your <TAB> key
  3. Please ensure you select your home campus from the pull-down list at the top of the page
  4. You MUST click on the box that relates to copyright declaration to comply with copyright legislation
  5. Save the file and attach it to an e-mail and send it to the inter-library loan email address (this address is used for all campuses).

WarningPlease be advised that users attempting to place multiple requests using this method will be referred to their Subject Liaison Librarian for training using the new system. Contact the Document Request System office for more details.

How to Send Document Request in Print Form
Before making a Document Request check the Victoria University Library catalogue
  1. Open the  form (MS Word doc)
  2. Fill in the details - to insert text: use your mouse to click on the shaded sections or use your <TAB> key, 
  3. NOTE: when you select your home campus from the pull-down list at the top of the page, the corresponding contact details will be automatically inserted at the bottom of the form when it is printed
  4. You MUST tick the box that relates to copyright declaration to comply with copyright legislation
  5. Print it out
  6. Send it to the Document Request System office (this address is used for all campuses) - address your forms to:

Delivery Options
For Items on Loan

Document Request System staff will contact you by phone or email when the item is ready for collection. You can collect the item from the service desk at your campus library. The loan period will generally be four weeks.

Photocopies

Will be supplied by internal mail to your department, or if you prefer will be held at the Service Desk in the library at your campus library for collection.

Document Request System correspondence/notification will be sent to your VU staff/student email account. This email address can be changed to your private email account if you wish.

Processing Times

Depending on availability and location of supplier (some material can only be supplied from overseas sources) the average time for requests of material is 5-15 working days from the date the request is submitted.

Copies Direct

The National Library offers a fee-based service for copies of articles, book chapters from its collection and other Australian collections. The service is available to the public, and may be suited to VU undergraduate students.
