 Food & Drink Guidelines

No food and drink near computers to minimise the risk of damage to hardware

In the interest of providing a comfortable and inviting learning environment the Library allows the consumption of snack food and non-alcoholic drinks under set conditions in certain areas. Please respect these guidelines and help us maintain a clean and pleasant environment for all users.

What is allowed as snack food or finger food?
Sealed and packaged snack foods such as chips, nuts, biscuits, cookies, cut fruit, candy, snack bars, sandwiches or muffins are  considered snack foods
What is not allowed?
No greasy, sticky, hot or potentially messy foods for example wedges, burgers, fries, chicken, noodles, pasta, pizza, pies, salads, bacon & eggs, yoghurt, ice cream and soup.
Closed Containers
Use sturdy, "spill-proof" containers - cups with lids, cans or bottles with narrow openings, squeeze bottles, etc. If you are unsure whether a container meets the Library’s requirements, please ask a staff member.
Disposal of Waste
  • Take responsibility for your spills, crumbs or sticky tables and clean them up.
  • Dispose of wrappings and beverage containers in the appropriate waste containers located throughout the study areas and outside.
  • Dispose of left over snacks and food in the appropriate bins.

Help us keep the Library clean and avoid damage to all facilities, furniture, carpets and computers.

Spills

Report any spills that may occur to staff immediately so that the spill can be cleaned as quickly as possible. We are all responsible for keeping the Library clean, pleasant and safe.

Failure to follow these guidelines may be deemed an infringement of Library rules and you may be asked to leave the library.

You can download the guidelines or ask at a Library Service Desk if you require more information.
