Locating Print Journals

Most databases do not have complete full text coverage. Indexes have no full text cover, although may link to other databases which do provide some full text.

Frequently you will encounter the need to check the VU library catalogue to locate a journal which contains an article which you have retrieved in your database search, and for which there is no full text available.

Some databases have an internal linking mechanism to the catalogue, which may look like this

or they may have a WebBridge link that looks like this:

Other databases may not have an internal link, and you may need to link to the catalogue from the Library home page.

A catalogue entry which looks like the example below, indicates that the Library holds the journal title in print format. Note the call number, and check the holdings statement (years, volumes & issues) against the date / volume you require.

If the print journal collection is not held at you campus library, or you are an offcampus student, use the Inter-campus photocopy request service to obtain the article.
